March 2015 Updates
Following OFSTED's consultation on proposals for inspection reform from September 2015 they have now published a report (Reference no. 150006) entitled 'Better Inspection for all' - a report on the responses to the consultation. Please find a copy of the full report here.
Their announcement published on 19th March 2015 outlines some of the main changes to the way it will inspect schools, further education and skills (FES) and early years provision from September 2015. The full announcement can be read at the link below:
Also, to give education leaders and practitioners an opportunity to learn more about the changes they have organised a series of 8 national events during June and July (*Note - these are now all fully booked). The North West event will take place on 30th June 2015.
January 2015 Updates
As discussed in September 2014 there are now just 3 main documents that schools should refer to - The OFSTED Framework Document; the OFSTED Inspection Handbook and the OFSTED Inspecting Safeguarding Document.
Please be aware, however, that these documents are subject to changes - the most recent minor changes in January 2015 are to the Handbook and to the Safeguarding Document.
Some of the recent changes were discussed at our network headteacher meetings - updated documents, highlighting some of the changes for January 2015 can be found in the 'Private' network headteacher pages.

Please note that Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) is high profile in curriculum, Assessment and EYFS and also 6th form too for secondary schools. The evaluation schedule for leadership and management is very much more comprehensive.

Sports Grants for Primary Schools
PLEASE ENSURE THAT INFORMATION ON HOW YOU ARE SPENDING YOUR SPORTS GRANT IS INCLUDED ON YOUR SCHOOL WEBSITE - EXAMPLE FORM BELOW (as hyperlink) WHICH CAN BE USED DURING AN INSPECTION (VERY USEFUL FOR 'ONE TO ONE' SPORTS LEADER MEETING WITH INSPECTORATE TEAM). IT IS USEFUL FOR YOUR SCHOOL TO HAVE A PE AND SPORTS ACTION PLAN WHICH COULD BE PRESENTED TO OFSTED INSPECTORS ON ARRIVAL (PROVIDING EVIDENCE THAT YOU HAVE A CLEAR PLAN AROUND PE/SPORTS PROVISION AT YOUR SCHOOL - THIS COULD ALSO BE ON THE SCHOOL WEBSITE) Further advice to follow.
